Here at ikor no mori green centre we are now offering spring and summer flowering bulbs for sale as dry bulbs now, these you can plant now as soon as you have bought them, we have an interesting selection which include daffadils, scilla, allium and more.
One of which interests me are the alpine tulips, these come from mountain areas and produce very colourful flowers in spring and of course are much shorter than normal tulips, they are ideal for the front of the border we offer some of these here at the moment.
Many of the bulbs we offer are already planted somewhere in the garden, the restaurant garden and lawn area in from of the shop are planted with a range of bulbs, if you have visited in the spring you may have seen them in flower and of course we have the bulb area in the woods.
When your bulbs have finished flowering if they are spring summer autumn or winter flowering treat them the same, try not to cut the leaf off until it has turned brown, if you cut them to early you may not get so many if any flowers the following year.
So if you are interested in some bulbs for colour next year come and check out our selection if you are in the area and enjoy the first of the autumn tints in the garden as well we all look forward to seeing you.
There are a lot of colourful perennials and shrubs to choose from for your borders, but sometimes people don't use grasses in their gardens, I didn't always use these plants and I must say that it's only in the last few years that I have become interested in them.
Ornamental grasses will mix with shrubs, perennials or even conifers as well as on there own, they are easy to look after needing little if no maintenance through the growing season and there's a grass for most situations, sun shade dry wet, the best way to use them is in the perennial borders dotted with the other plants, most grasses sold will flower in late summer through to autumn and they do add movement and a gentle splash of colour at a time of year when it can be lacking in the borders.
So I hope this is enough to make you a little interested in grasses if you haven't thought of using them before.
